INCLUSIVE NURSEY SCHOOL

Services for preschool children (ages 3 to 5) are provided by HVP Gatagara Nyanza through the public school under Ministry of Education,Rwanda. The services are jointly available for children with disability and non-disabled children. The implementation of inclusion principles at the nursery school in HVP Gatagara is unique in Rwanda. Credit must be granted to the engagement of HVP and several head teachers, nursery and primary school teachers, who strongly believe in inclusion education. HVP Gatagara Nursery is for children aged 3-5 years and operates during term time. Our holidays are usually in line with those of local primary schools under REB (Rwanda Education Board). During some of the longer holidays, we try to arrange a few weeks’stay for families whose children have extra support needs.
